Churches Together in Denmead

Churches Together in Denmead

DABS runs each year. DABS stands for Denmead Activity and Bible School. This is a highlight of the summer holiday for many children and is great fun.. The week has two themes that run side by side, an adventure theme with stories, activities, games, etc, and a theme from the bible which is introduced and developed throughout the week. Lively music and songs start and end each day. Last year’s DABS ran from Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th August and the week ends with a service in the marquee on Sunday 13th at 10am when we all gather together to celebrate,.An Alpha Course is run between the Anglican and Baptist Churches.

As with all Christians, the Catholic Church teaches that all human lives, marked as they are in so many ways by suffering as well as joy, are to be valued, celebrated, cherished and respected. This is no less true if the person has a disability which causes him or her some unavoidable and maybe significant suffering. As people in this situation and their carers often emphasise, suffering can and does exist with a life that is profoundly valuable – both in itself and in what that person can achieve. Thus, the Church says that every member of the human family – whether a foetus, an infant or an adult – is made in God’s image and is irreplaceable. All have a crucial contribution to make to the life of the Church and the world. Christians from all traditions will want to continue support the Catholic community in its prayer and witness to these truths.

Denmead Churches Together also run a holiday at home event called Past Times .

THE DENMEAD COVENANT

  1. We, Denmead Baptist Church, Denmead and Hambledon Roman Catholic Congregation, part of the Sacred Heart Waterlooville, and All Saints' Church Denmead covenant with one another as follows:-
  2. This covenant we deem to be binding on us, to be confirmed annually.
  3. We confess our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, according to the scriptures, and acknowledge our calling to serve His mission in the World. We give thanks for what we have in common, yet recognise that we are not perfectly united. We therefore pledge ourselves to seek that unity which Christ desires for his church, believing that through his spirit he will guide us unto his truth.
  4. In the faith that Christ will draw us closer to His will for us, we pledge ourselves to undertake activities as we are guided, and enabled by the Holy Spirit.
  5. We resolve to take any further steps that God's Spirit may direct, to keep our progress under review, and to support ecumenical activities in the area as appropriate.
